The School of Mathematical Sciences at QMUL is home to a thriving community of postgraduate research students currently numbering approximately 90 students. 87% of our research is rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2014).
We advertise a number of funded PhD projects throughout the year and we accept applications for self-funded full or part-time projects all year round. For further information on current and past project examples can be found on the School of Mathematical Sciences PhD project pages.
Our research in statistics is at the interface between methodology and applications, because developing statistical methods which are of practical use is essential to influence the discipline of Statistics, as well as other scientific disciplines, policy makers and industry. Please visit our research page for more information.
Candidates for the PhD programmes in Mathematics or Statistics should normally have a first or good upper second-class honours BSc in mathematics or statistics, or a more advanced qualification such as MSci, MMath, or MSc.
Please visit the School of Mathematical Sciences web pages for information on entry requirements.
