Around the world, more people than ever in history are being forced to flee conflict and persecution to find safety and sanctuary elsewhere.
Queen Mary University was founded in the belief that education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background. It is a special place with the best record amongst all the Russell Group universities in England for recruiting students from lower-income families. Our diversity is our strength and something that we are all inherently proud of. The Sanctuary Support Fund will provide additional financial assistance to Queen Mary's students who are asylum seekers or have a temporary immigration status awarded as a result of a claim for asylum. We are reaching out to our vibrant and diverse community for this important appeal to raise vital funds to support Queen Mary’s Sanctuary Students.

“I had to pay high fees for student housing as I had no connections to find a roommate. Supporting my family financially was another significant challenge. The pressure to maintain my visa status and the £2,000 cost of visa renewal for my family and I added to my financial burden.”— David, Biomedical Sciences BSc (Hons)
