The Buddy Scheme is designed to help you settle into life as a Queen Mary student.
The Buddy Scheme is here to help our new undergraduate students settle into life at Queen Mary. Starting university can leave you with a lot of questions, many of which current students are the best equipped to answer. Our mentors are trained to support incoming students socially and will work with you throughout the year to unburden some of your worries, help you to integrate into Queen Mary and make sure you truly enjoy your time here.
You'll be matched up with a more experienced student in your School, who can offer help and support as you adjust to student life. You will be grouped with other students in your cohort and be supported by a trained Queen Mary Buddy mentor.
Being part of the Buddy Scheme will allow you to:
The main Queen Mary Buddy Scheme cycle runs from September through to March. In many Schools new students will be invited to connect to a mentor automatically, in other Schools new incoming students will need to submit an application form.
If you are starting in January and would like a mentor, you can sign up with your Queen Mary email address and connect to a mentor in your School. All our mentors are experienced and trained undergraduate students, if you are a postgraduate student interested in connecting to a mentor in January email us at: buddyscheme@qmul.ac.uk. Please include your full name, student ID number and academic School.
This year we are piloting a new mentoring scheme called Level Up. This scheme is for students returning for their second year at Queen Mary who might benefit from having a peer mentor to help them settle back into university life. For more information please visit the Buddy Scheme Level up page.
