We run 5 and 10-week classes aimed at supporting you in your studies through honing your written and spoken communication. We also offer classes to help you communicate in the workplace with confidence and flair.
The classes are free and open to all students, home and international, across all academic levels and programmes of study.
Our QM Elevate classes will give you the know-how to:
The classes are taught by experienced tutors, with plenty of opportunity for feedback on your work. You will learn the unspoken conventions of academic and professional communication and have the opportunity to work on your assignments in class and plan your work-in-progress. Some classes even offer 1:1 tutorials. Each of the class has a dedicated QMPlus area where you can find teaching materials for each session as well as additional resources which you can explore to further develop your skills.
Our classes are grouped in 6 topic areas:

Criticality, Creativity and Argumentation
Thesis, Dissertation and Project Writing
Lectures, Seminars and Oral Communication
Accuracy in Language
Communication and Culture in the Global Workplace
Each topic area includes several different classes, with popular and engaging choices, such as Reading and Writing Critically, Process of Writing, Storytelling for Success, Intercultural Communication, Effective Presentation Skills, English in Social Settings, Expand your Vocabulary or Research Writing Workshops. You can book up to 4 classes each semester. Booking opens at the start of each semester.

We offer modules in a range of modern foreign languages for Queen Mary students and staff, and for members of our local community, for credit or not-for-credit.
