Entry Requirements

On this page you can find the English language requirements and the minimum grades required to enter the Pre-Masters programme. The grades you need to enter the course will vary depending on what qualifications you have completed.

English Language Requirements

The information relates to programmes with a start date of November 2024 or later. Click here for programmes with a start date of up to October 2024.

IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall with 5.5 in each of Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking
TOEFL 72 overall with 17 in Writing, 18 in Reading, 17 in Listening and 20 in Speaking
PTE Academic 59 overall with 59 in each of Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking
C2 Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) 162 overall with 162 in each of Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking
C1 Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) 162 overall with 162 in each of Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking

Academic Entry Requirements

For entry onto the Pre-Masters Programmes, students will be expected to meet the following academic entry requirements:

  • Achieve at least a pass in a full first degree that is equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree, with a pass in all final year modules.
  • Alternatively, achieve at least 55% overall in a UK Diploma of Higher Education (level 5) or overseas equivalent, with a pass in all final year modules.
  • Awards with failed modules in the final year of academic study will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • For the Pre-Masters in Humanities and Social Sciences, any degree subject can be considered.
  • For the Pre-Masters in Finance and Economics, students must have a satisfactory existing level of Mathematics, Statistics or Quantitative Methods. We welcome students from a variety of disciplines, including Accountancy, Mathematics, Statistics, Sciences, Computing, Engineering, Economics and Finance.  Students from less quantitatively oriented degrees, such as Business, Management and Politics, are also welcome if they have focused on more quantitative elements of those degrees

Bachelor degree or Specialist Diploma awarded from a recognised institution.

Bachelor degree (minimum 4 years) awarded from selected institutions.

Bachelor degree awarded from a recognised institution. The minimum overall final marks required will be either 60% or 70% (- offer conditions will vary depending on institution attended).

 

Or

 

College Diploma (Zhuanke) – minimum 3 years – awarded from a recognised institution.   The minimum overall final marks required will be either 70% or 75% (- offer conditions will vary depending on institution attended).

Bachelor degree awarded from selected institutions.

 

Or

 

Associate Degree awarded from selected institutions with minimum final GPA of 2.75 out of 4.3

Bachelor degree awarded from selected institutions.  

Sarjana I (S1) Bachelor degree or Diploma IV (D4) – minimum 4 years - awarded from selected degree programmes and institutions.

 

Or

 

Diploma III (D3) – minimum 3 years - awarded from selected degree programmes and institutions.  The minimum overall final marks required will be either a GPA of 2.8 out of 4.0 or a GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (- offer conditions will vary depending on institution attended).

Or

 

Higher National Diploma (HND) – minimum 2 years – from selected institutions.  The minimum overall final marks required will be either a GPA of 2.75 out of 4.0 or a GPA of 3.2 out of 5.0 (- offer conditions will vary depending on institution attended).

Associate degree / Junior College Diploma – minimum 3 years – from selected institutions.  The minimum overall final marks required will be either a GPA of 3.1 out of 4.3 or a GPA of 3.3 out of 4.5 (- offer conditions will vary depending on institution attended).
