Scholarship opportunities with the University of Law

Queen Mary University of London has partnered with the University of Law to offer an amazing opportunity and some exclusive scholarships to help Queen Mary final year students launch into the next stage of their legal career.

The University of Law is pleased to work in partnership with Queen Mary University of London to offer its undergraduate students the chance to progress onto The University of Law’s Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) Stage 1 and Stage 2 programmes, as well as those continuing with the Legal Practice Course route, students pursuing a career at the Bar, and those interested in a standalone LLM course.

So what does that mean for you as a student?

The University of Law will ensure that Queen Mary students who are planning to enter the legal profession will have a guaranteed place at the University of Law, if entry requirements are met (please note the guaranteed place on the Bar Practice Course is subject to successful passing of our Selection event).

Help and guidance will be available to make sure students are confident when taking their next career steps, including:

  • SQE preparation workshops on campus or virtually
  • A streamlined application process
  • Bespoke networking opportunities
  • Employability events

In addition, you’ll receive a £250 discount on qualifying University of Law courses, as well as the opportunity to apply to an exclusive Future Lawyers Scholarship at The University of Law.

Scholarships

We are making available a limited number of scholarships to students who have graduated from any degree programme at Queen Mary University of London and who will start a University of Law programme in the 2024-25 academic year. The purpose of these scholarships is to support Queen Mary University of London graduates who wish to progress to study for a professional legal qualification.

The scholarship will be awarded as a tuition fee discount at the start of your University of Law course.

The total available is £18,750 for a maximum of 5 recipients.

  • Be a graduate from any Queen Mary University of London degree programme
  • Hold an offer to study any University of Law postgraduate programme commencing in the 2024-25 academic year.
  • Be able to demonstrate how you have overcome adversity and hardship while pursuing your aspiration to a legal career, and to outline how the scholarship will provide necessary financial assistance to support you with your career development.

For this opportunity, we welcome applications from all students who meet the eligibility criteria, and we particularly want to hear from students who:

  • Attended a state school.
  • Come from a non-professional family background.
  • Are the first generation in their family to go to university.
  • Were in receipt of a full or partial Queen Mary University bursary.

How to apply

Submit a supporting statement of a maximum of 500 words (on the Application Form provided) outlining how you have overcome adversity and hardship while studying for your current degree, and how this scholarship will provide necessary financial assistance to support you with your career ambitions.

In order to apply for the Scholarship you must also:

  • Submit proof of successful completion of any Queen Mary University of London degree programme
  • Demonstrate your intention to study on a University of Law programme by providing evidence of your application and/or offer.

The scholarship is open to all final year students at Queen Mary are welcome to apply, including those outside of law.

Please note that applicants who are not able to meet these requirements will not be considered for these scholarships. Please also note that these scholarships are subject to terms and conditions.

Applications will be considered by a panel and successful applicants will be notified as soon as possible after this date. Please note that that we will not be able to provide any feedback on applications.
