Profile

I am a graduate of the University of Piemonte Orientale, Vercelli, Italy. I have a Laurea (BA equivalent) in Modern Languages & Literatures, with a minor in Medieval French. I completed a MA in French Studies at the University of Sheffield in 2007 and a Maîtrise (MA (Hons) equivalent) in Medieval Latin & French Languages and Literatures at the University of Geneva (Switzerland) in 2011. I also hold a PhD (University of Sheffield) in Medieval French Literature. My areas of expertise are Anglo-Norman chivalric texts and the role of irony in Medieval French literature. More recently, I have begun to study the role of graphic novels (bandes dessinées médiévalistes) in current Medieval studies. I worked at the University of Sheffield as French Language Instructor until 2017; from 2014 until 2022, I also worked as French and Italian Language Tutor at the University of York. In 2022-23, I held a position of Teacher in French Studies at the University of Liverpool. I’m currently also working as part-time Associate Lecturer in French Studies at the University of York.
