Queen Mary University is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the issues listed below.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018.
Currently, Queen Mary produces around 8500 PDFs every year. We have assessed the cost of fixing these documents, and believe that doing so would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.
To ensure accessibility guidelines are met going forward, we will be providing all website editors with the following tools and resources:
· Silktide platform
· Accessibility training course
· Online resource hub
· Regular web users forum
· Periodical accessibility audits
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
Please find below our remaining accessibility problems, and the date by which we will have fixed these.
We are currently working through our list of non-compliances on a sprint basis. We will be actioning these throughout quarters three and four.
Read our disproportionate burden assessment relating to accessible documents.
