Queen Mary students compete in International Arbitration Moot

Postgraduate students from Queen Mary took part in the Willem C Vis International Arbitration Moot in Vienna in March 2012.

The Willem C Vis is one of the most competitive international moots. The Queen Mary team passed the elimination rounds to be placed within the best 50 teams out of 300 participating universities from across the globe.

The Queen Mary LLM and Diploma students who participated in the moot were: Constantin Klein, Thomas Baconin, Alisa Kashentseva, Daria Sakhno. Constantin Klein, received an Honourable Mention for his oral performance.

Dr Stavros Brekoulakis, Senior Lecturer in International Dispute Resolution at Queen Mary and co-ordinator of the arbitration mooting said:

"Queen Mary has a very long tradition and outstanding success in arbitration moot competitions. Vienna arbitration moot in particular is the biggest moot in the world and provides an excellent opportunity for students to apply the academic knowledge they get in our classes to practice, and meet with more than 2,000 arbitrators, practitioners and fellow-students."
