Dr Maxi Scherer has been named as the new co-chair of DIS40, the German Arbitration Institution's young practitioners' group.

Maxi Scherer is Senior Lecturer and Director of the LLM in Paris at Queen Mary University of London and special counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr in London.

Dr Scherer was elected at the DIS40's annual conference in Berlin on 16 October and will serve a four-year term. In her new role as co-chair she will work with the other co-chairs and regional coordinators to organise the group’s events. These include a forthcoming event in Berlin jointly organised with a dozen under-40 groups of other organisations including the ICC, ICCA and the ICDR.

Loukas Mistelis, director of Queen Mary’s School of International Arbitration, says: "Maxi has a genuinely international background and combines academic excellence with practical excellence making her an outstanding choice for the DIS40 co-chair."
