The Gautrot Lab: Biointerfaces for Life Sciences

Ms Alexandra Chrysanthou

Alexandra

PhD student in the development of next generation nanomaterials for stem cell technologies.

Profile

Development of next generation nanomaterials for the design of 3D bioreactors for stem cell technologies

My research focuses on the design of extracellular matrix protein nanosheets assembled at liquid-liquid interfaces that will sustain the adhesion formation and will support the cell proliferation. The aims of the project are the investigation of fundamental insight into ECM nanosheet design and the deep understanding of mechanisms that control cell sensing, adhering and responding to nanoscale cues. The development of a novel generation of 3D bioreactor based on emulsions stabilized by proteins nanosheets will work beneficial for the stem cell expansion.

Interests: My research interest is in nanoscience, particularly applications in bioengineering and medicine.
