Profile

Design of polymer brushes as RNA delivery vectors and for electrochemical catalysis

This is a joint project which aims to investigate the physico-chemical properties of polymer brush decorated nanomaterials and the interaction with nucleic acids and proteins, for the application of gene delivery and electrochemical catalysis. The polymer brush will allow the independent control of physico-chemical properties of the polymer coating and the shape, size and chemistry of the core nanomaterials, in order to investigate the impact of these parameters on gene delivery efficiency.  Also, changes in the structural conformation and chemical properties of polymer brush will influence the adsorption and catalytic reaction of redox proteins, and the electron transfer on electrode, which will determine the final electrochemistry behaviour and performance of the electrode and its biofuel cell.

Interests: Singing, Chinese history, Beijing opera and ink painting.
