Profile
Design of a Microfluidics Integrated Skin-on-a-Chip Tissue Model
This project aims to design and develop a full thickness (dermal and epidermal) vascularised skin-on-a-chip device, using microfluidic cell culture techniques to co-culture cells from primary sources. This device should recapitulate the microenvironment (including microarchitecture, biomechanical and biochemical cues) of its in vivo counterpart so that the cells respond to the application of drugs or toxic stimuli in a way similar to living tissue. It could then have useful applications in the fields of cosmetic and transdermal drug development.
