Peptide-based engineered soft matrices via thiol-ene coupling

This project will explore the functionalization of two important biopolymers, hyaluronan and heparin, with short peptide sequences via thiol-ene chemistry. Such platform will be used for the generation of peptide-biopolymer hydrogels and the assembly of novel biomembranes with tunable mechanical properties. The use of the resulting biomaterials for tissue engineering will be explored.
