Profile

Sadaf completed her M.Phil. in Bioinformatics from the National Centre for Bioinformatics at QAU, Islamabad, Pakistan. She then pursued a Ph.D. in Genetics at the Beijing Institute of Genomics (BIG), China, under the supervision of Professor Xuemei Lu. Her research focused on cancer evolution, comparative cancer genomics, and identifying key driver mutations in tumor cells. Following her Ph.D., Sadaf worked as an Interim Placement of Fresh PhDs (IPFP) Fellow at the University of Okara, Pakistan. There, she conducted whole-genome sequencing (WGS) analysis to study mutation patterns in breast cancer patients in Pakistan.

With a continued passion for disease genetics and genomics, in 2022 she joined the Bochukova Lab as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Genomics and Child Health, Blizard Institute. Our lab is studying the genetic variation linked to metabolic disease, obesity in particular. Her main work is to explore the underlying mechanisms using genome-wide association studies (GWAS), next-generation sequencing (NGS), and molecular biology approaches.

Chinese Academy of Sciences and The World Academy of Sciences (CAS-TWAS), Ph.D. scholar (2015-2019)
International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), member
