The Genome Centre provides analysis of individual transcripts using the ABI 7900HT real time PCR instrument.
Individual genes or combinations of genes can be assayed using Taqman probes targeting specific exon/exon boundaries. Automatic set up using a Beckmann Biomek FX in 384 well plates in a 10µl volume ensures accurate, reproducible, cost effective results. We recommend that reference genes are selected empirically following the method of Vandesompele et al 2002. A selection of assays from LifeTechnologies for six common reference genes are available at the Centre for human, mouse and rat.
Larger numbers of genes, from 24 to 382 can be assayed simultaneously using MicroFluidic Cards in either off the shelf panels (TaqMan® Gene Signature Arrays) or in customisable format.
Samples can be provided either as total RNA (which will be quality controlled using a nanodrop and Agilent BioAnalyser on receipt) or as cDNA.
