Working off-site

Queen Mary has various policies and guidance covering working off-site. This includes fieldwork, research activities, work-related trips, meetings, conferences, and other activities that take place on non-Queen Mary premises. Please note, however, that it does not relate to remote working from home.

There are various activities that need to be completed when organising off-site work such as conducting a risk assessment and having this approved, implemented, and reviewed, as well as identifying roles and responsibilities for those involved in off-site working, including Supervisors or Line Managers who will remain on campus as a base contact.

The University has provided some working off-site guidance and a useful Working Off-site Process Flowchart to help and guide you when planning all off-site work:

Please follow this procedure, paying particular attention to the risk assessment requirements and obtaining relevant insurance.

Employers Liability Insurance

Once completed the risk assessment must be signed off by your manager before being uploaded to Oshens as a confidential risk assessment.

Further details can be found on the HSD site.
