Join us in celebrating 25 years of Swadhinata Trust with a vibrant Mela showcasing Bengali history, culture, and heritage.
amongst young people and to all communities in the UK. Based in East London but with a national reach, the Trust now have an office at Queen Mary University and have brought some of their archive which is stored on campus.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Trust, students on the Assistant Producers Scheme in the Queen Mary Centre for Creative Collaboration are producing a Mela in collaboration with the team at Swadhinata.It will be a vibrant celebration of Bengali culture and history, with short film screenings, an archive exhibition, a quiz and board games.
There will also be comedy performances and free pamphlets, flyers and past publications of the Trust will be available.As this event is taking place during Ramadan, an Iftar will be hosted after 6pm where attendees are welcome to break their fast with delicious free Bengali food.
