On Wednesday 7 October, the School of Business and Management was pleased to host the latest instalment of its Industry Spotlight Series, focussing on all things HR.
The School of Business and Management welcomed professionals from the Human Resources sector to discuss their roles and what lead them to their particular roles. Hosting the panel was Dr Elena Doldor, Reader in Organisational Behaviour and Programme Director for MSc International Human Resource Management. Joining the panel was Sandy Grewal (GVC Group), Glushin Ijaz (EY) and Steve Saville (Mazars).
The Industry Spotlight Series is a bespoke programme of events designed to bring students virtual careers learning side by side with industry talks and Q&As. The exclusive events give our students the opportunity to improve their employability skills and hear from those in industry, as they discuss everything from their career pathway through to the impact and changes due to COVID19.
These events provide invaluable insight into the relevant sectors and offer a fantastic opportunity for our students to expand their network of connections.
Dr Georgy Petrov, Director of Skills and Employer Engagement for the School, said:
'The idea for the fortnightly Industry Spotlight series came about after very successful 'The Future of Work post-Covid 19' and 'Virtual Career Conversations' webinars that we organised in the summer. This new series is aimed at giving SBM students an insight to different sectors and professions as well as building connections with industry professionals from HR, Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Business Law and the Third Sector. We have so far had excellent speakers from Mazars, Augusta Ventures, EY, GVC Group, Bromptons Bikes, the Lego Group, and ASOS, who shared their career insights and experiences with our students and staff. I would like to thank all panellists, academic colleagues hosting each of these events as well as our students for their participation and excellent questions. Special thanks to Sarah Bryan, Rachel Henry and Sonia Singh of SBM Business Development team for helping organise this series. Please keep an eye for invitations to future events.'
