Profile

Rafael Henkin is an HDR-funded Post-doctoral Researcher and Data Engineer in the team led by Prof. Michael Barnes, working on the development of interactive visualisation tools for omics and clinical data across projects such as AI MULTIPLY, IMID-Bio-UK, RA-MAP and PSORT. He holds BSc (2010) and MSc (2013) in Computer Science (UFRGS, Brazil) and a PhD in Computer Science (2018, City, University of London). He previously worked as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at City, University of London and has multiple years of experience teaching in Data Science, in particular in Data Visualisation, Principles of Data Science and Visual Analytics modules. He is interested in understanding how to effectively integrate interative visualisation methods with popular data analysis workflows, such as Python and R markdown/notebooks and Shiny apps.

He has reviewed for venues such as IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications (CG&A) and Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG), ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI), EuroVis and INTERACT.

Software

  • visxhclust is an R package containing a Shiny app for visual exploration of hierarchical clustering. It's available on CRAN for download and allows you to load data, explore different clustering options and save the data annotated with clusters
  • rforceplots is an R package that exposes the force plots from the SHAP Python package to R scripts and Shiny apps
