Book an appointment

Our appointments can cover any careers query, and can be booked by all students, research staff and all those who have graduated from Queen Mary in the last three years. Watch our video and take a look at our drop-down menu below to make sure you're ready for an appointment.

To view available booking times, login to your QM Careers Hub.

Important Information

  • Due to high demand, we try not to waste appointments; if you miss two appointments in a row then you won’t be able to book an appointment for the next two weeks.
  • We try to make sure our appointments are available for everyone. Soyou can only book three sessions of one appointment type for each semester e.g. careers guidance, application advice.
  • Please note you can only book one appointment for each appointment type at a time
  • If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment the appointment will have to be cancelled and you will need to arrange for another time.
  • If you’re not sure where to go for your appointment, check in advance. In-person appointments are mainly held in iQ East whilst all online appointments are held on Microsoft Teams.
  • If there is something we can do to make our services more accessible (i.e. extra time or resources in a specific format), please contact the Careers Information Desk on 020 7882 8533.

How to join a Teams Meeting

If you are a current student

Log into your QM student MS Teams account and be online at the time of the appointment, when the adviser will call you directly.

Note: as a current student you will not receive a joining link.

If you are a graduate

If you booked online yourself on Careers Hub, you must email careers@qmul.ac.uk before your appointment time to request a joining link

If you booked via phone or in person at the Careers office, a joining link will be created and sent to you.

To successfully prepare for your appointment, we strongly recommend that you:

  • Arrive on time to maximise the full appointment; 20 minutes for a careers appointment and 30 minutes for an enterprise appointment.
  • Decide on one or two specific things that you want to talk about.
  • Think about what you want to reasonably achieve in the session.
  • Check out our online resources for help getting started.

Most of our appointments follow roughly the same structure:

  • Your Careers Consultant will ask what you want from your session and find out what stage you are at.
  • Together you’ll agree a focus and your next step.
  • We will work in partnership with you to move you forward in whatever way is best for you. This could be anything from identifying different job hunting methods to talking through decisions about postgraduate study.

To truly make the most of your appointment, you should:

  • Take your agreed actions and use our website for further support, or browse information in the Careers and Enterprise Centre.
  • Visit us or call 020 7882 8533 to book a follow up appointment if necessary.
