Julia has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to CCLS by dedicating her time and sharing her expertise with postgraduate students, participating in qLegal and qMentoring programs since 2018. As a qLegal supervisor, Julia consistently volunteers to supervise multiple student-led client cases each academic year. Notwithstanding the time difference, Julia always makes herself available to attend client meetings and to support students. Julia takes extra care to ensure students achieve their full potential when working on their client cases. She regularly goes above and beyond what is asked of her, offering additional calls with students to provide further feedback and support; both on their specific client work, and a legal career more generally. qLegal students praise Julia’s approachable attitude, alongside her patience, generous support and constant encouragement. In addition to her role as a supervising attorney and mentor, Julia has offered selected students internships with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, introduced to the network of senior professionals, helped to get professional experience with other companies, assisted to secure first full-time legal jobs, and guided on how to progress a legal career. In 2019, Julia also contributed to qLegal’s Annual Report, which is used to promote CCLS (and qLegal’s) offerings to future students and clients.
Julia is being recognised for her outstanding contribution to CCLS and to set an example for other alums around the world and encourage them to dedicate their time, for example with a pro bono activity, in order to assist postgraduate students in the early stages of their professional careers. Testimonies of students confirm how important it is for them to connect with senior professionals, hear their stories, and feel supported as they enter their professional journey.
