Giovanna has recently started working for Facebook based in London as a Privacy Program Manager in the Product Team.
In this role, Giovanna (Computer and Communication Law LLM, 2015) will support product teams at Facebook to ensure that their products protect users’ privacy and data by design.
Since completing her course with distinction in 2015, Giovanna has been building a successful career in the field of privacy and data protection. She worked for four years with GDPR compliance at the consultancy Promontory Financial Group, an IBM Company; and for two years with data privacy policy at the renowned think tank Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL). At CIPL, Giovanna lead a series of global and regional projects focusing on shaping and encouraging effective regulation and implementation of data protection best practices among companies and data protection authorities, and she was particularly recognised as an expert and key stakeholder among the Brazilian data privacy community.
Giovanna said about her new appointment: “Today I start a new chapter in my career - I joined Facebook's Product team, still based in London, to support Facebook build privacy into the design of their products. It's going to be an exciting new challenge as I come from a privacy compliance and policy background.
I really learned so much in my previous role at the think tank Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) and with my mentor Bojana Bellamy and all the CIPL team. I'm so thankful and feel blessed. CIPL really has the power of gathering smart people around the table for really smart discussions on data policy, and every data-driven company should join it as a member. I’m excited with the opportunity of continuing to work with CIPL, now as a member, and sharing many interesting things I'm about to learn as part of my new role”.
