CCLS Masters student Jessica Sblendorio (Comparative and International Dispute Resolution), is part of the Queen Mary team that won the 2021 CPR International Mediation Competition earlier this month. Jessica also won First Prize in the individual “Best Counsel” award category.
On 21st March 2021 the CPR International Mediation Competition concluded with the final round between the University of Sao Paulo and Queen Mary University of London. After a successful mediation session in which both teams performed extraordinarily well, the judges had to make a tough decision on who to crown the winner and decided on the participants from Queen Mary University of London. Congratulations to LLM student Jessica Sblendorio and undergraduate Andra Tofan (English and European Law) for winning the team event, and also to undergraduate Parnian Mohammadi (Law), who reached the semi-finals in the individual “Best Mediator” category.
This is what Kai Sass-Hauschildt, Manager of International Programs at CPR, says about the competition:
“We followed our final round with a panel discussion with the authors of the problem, in which they gave us a look behind the scenes and explained their thought processes during the development of the problem. We finished our day with the award ceremony and our final get-together to celebrate our winners and share our thoughts and experiences.
We want to thank all of you who were able to join on Sunday and celebrate the finals with us and everyone who participated throughout the week. It was a pleasure working with you and we hope to be able to host this competition again in person next year. In case you missed the announcements of the winning categories, please see a list of all winners at the end of this message. Congratulations to all the teams who won!
Lastly, I want to invite all of you to join our CPR Y-ADR group on LinkedIn and to our upcoming webinar on “The Four Cs to Managing Conflict in the Workplace Remotely” which will feature Damali Peterman. We hope to see many of you there and as practicing ADR experts in the future!”
