Read about Oscar’s new appointment to the UNHCR Emergency Response Team.
In March 2021, Oscar Pajuelo (Immigration Law LLM, 2018) was accepted to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Emergency Response Team (ERT). The ERT is a pool of UNHCR personnel who are on standby for emergency deployment. Roster members are drawn from duty stations in the field and sections at Headquarters. On Monday, 7th June Oscar received the request for deployment to Bogota Colombia, where he will serve as Associate Protection Officer in the Field Coordination Unit (the deployment will be for 3 months).
Before leaving his duty station in Arequipa Peru, the UNHCR, represented by Oscar and representatives of local government, inaugurated a community library that will guarantee access to Peruvian and international literature and cultural activities to refugees, migrants and members of the host community. Oscar is pictured alongside this news item in the UNHCR blue vest at the library’s inauguration ceremony.
