Rimantas DaujotasRimantas Daujotas defended his PhD in Law in 2020 at Queen Mary University of London (School of International Arbitration). He was supervised by CCLS Professor, Loukas Mistelis.

Rimantas is currently working as a Partner in International Dispute Resolution at Motieka & Audzevicius PLP in Vilnius.

For more than 10 years Rimantas has been a practitioner and academic in international commercial and investor-state disputes. Rimantas has extensive experience in disputes arising under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties and high-value commercial agreements. In addition to international and high value arbitration work, Rimantas works on high profile international litigation cases in the Baltic and CIS region, as well as at the EU Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. He also advises companies on trade, international sanctions, energy, investment, regulatory and transactional matters. Rimantas serves as a consultant or representative to company claimants and respondents as well as government claimants and respondents for global companies, foreign governments as well as international law firms.

Although Rimantas already had a PhD in law from Vilnius University, in 2013 he decided to pursue his dream – a second PhD in Law at Queen Mary University of London.

Rimantas’s motivation to pursue a PhD degree at QMUL was based on the international recognition and prestige of the School of International Arbitration at QMUL. Rimantas says that while being a practitioner in international arbitration and dispute resolution, he knew that the School of International Arbitration at QMUL was the best in the world. None of the universities around the world had so many distinguished experts and academics working on international arbitration matters. Thus it was both a privilege and a great challenge to be a part of this prestigious community of world-class academics and practitioners who all work at the School of International Arbitration at QMUL. In addition to being the best in the world, the School of International Arbitration at QMUL naturally attracts the best talent - the most highly regarded practitioners and academics. As a result, studying at QMUL also provided excellent networking opportunities. Rimantas says that studying at QMUL was one of the most challenging, but also one of the most rewarding experience of his career.

Rimantas continues to work on high profile international cases and is now considering his third PhD, this time on the subject of international relations and affairs.
