After completing his LLM Saurabh have been practising lawyer in India and other jurisdiction including United Kingdom and East Africa (Tanzania).
Here Saurabh outlines his career journey: “I completed my B.A.LLB from Symbiosis International University, Pune, and got myself enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi vide Enrolment No. D/886/2007. Thereafter, I went to United Kingdom (UK) to attend Queen Mary, University of London to pursue my Masters (LLM) in International Tax and Regulations in Financial Markets. Thereafter I worked with Singhania & Co. at their London office for one and half years wherein I was handling Income Tax matters before His Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) following which I came back to India and joined KPMG (one of the Big Fours). I handled various Income Tax matters including but not limited to Assessment Proceedings, Appearing and Arguing before the Assessing Officer, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals) and Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Delhi High Court, Bombay High Court and before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India for various high end tax matters. I also have a wide experience of handling more than 500 Income Tax Assessment and Appeals before various Judicial bodies of East Africa (Tanzania) with a leading international Law firm as head of Tax & Global Business for more than 3 (three) years and having handled more than 1000 cases both at assessment level and before various Judicial bodies in appeals.
I have successfully handled one of the highest Tax Litigation matters in East Africa which was for more than USD 206 million before Assessment and before various Judicial bodies up to the Court of Appeal (highest Court in Tanzania). After coming back to India in 2015 I have handled and advised on various issues on income tax including Cross Border Taxation for many domestic and international Clients. I was involved in high end tax litigations before all the forums including the Court of Appeal of Tanzania and have also been associated with KPMG India, International Tax Litigation and Regulatory team. I have assisted clients in structuring transactions in most tax efficient manner including entry as well as exit out of a particular transaction as well as territory. I have been advising various companies establishing their business in India. I have also advised leading global developers and marketer of various branded product on their various crucial and strategic decision-making processes.
I am currently working as the Managing Partner at SK Attorneys specializing in diverse fields. We offer varied services to our clients on complex legal issues both nationally and internationally”.
Saurabh also holds many awards and recognitions, which he achieved throughout his career, such as: Rising Star 40 under 40 by Legal Era for 2024, India’s Ranked Lawyers – 2023 for GenNext Leading Lawyer – White Collar Crime 2023 by Legal Era. He was awarded the Lex Falcon Award, 2022 by Lex Talk World, 2022 and the 40 under 40 Rising Star by Legal Era in the field of law in India for the year 2018, as well as the Young Tax Lawyer of the year 2018 by Indian National Bar Association (INBA). Saurabh was the finalist for Young Achiever under 35 (2019) by IDEX Legal and was featured as a Leading Law Firm Partner in the book, ‘Distinguished Legal Minds of India’ published by Legal Era in 2020, as well as featured on Queen Mary University of London’s website on their 40-year celebrations. He was awarded “Udyamita Samman 2020” by Swadeshi JagramManch, an affiliate of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a part of their Swadeshi Swavalamban Abhiyan, 2020 and invited to a number of events as Judge at Moot Court at Symbiosis International University Law at Noida, Uttar Pradesh; as Chief Guest at MVN University at Palwal in August 2018; as Judge for International Moot Court at Indian Law Institute at Indore, Madhya Pradesh; as guest speaker at Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University; as guest speaker at Faculty of Law, Jamia Milia Islamia at New Delhi; as a Panel Speaker at INBA on Recent Developments on Commercial Laws in India (2019). He also served as Alumni Head North and East India for Queen Mary College University, London, and Non-Executive Board Member at Cars24 Financial Services Limited.
