Douglas Arner book

Co-authored by Ross P. Buckley and Dirk A. Zetzsche and published by Cambridge University Press, the book offers an ideal reference for anyone seeking to understand the technological transformation of finance and the role of regulation in the world of FinTech. This is what Professor Arner says about the book: “In FinTech, Ross Buckley, Dirk Zetzsche and I consider the digital transformation of finance over the past 50 years and its implications going forward. We address the evolution of a range of innovations including blockchain, artificial intelligence, central bank digital currencies, DeFi and regtech, arguing for balanced proportional regulatory approaches to underpin development. We also analyse broader national strategies and approaches to support inclusive financial and sustainable development, focusing on digital financial infrastructure, regtech / suptech and innovation strategies.

Finally we highlight the emerging challenges going forward, in particular achieving sustainability across the UN Sustainable Development Goals, tensions between fragmentation and globalization, and the challenge of transformational new technologies going forward. The opportunities are immense but so are the challenges”.
