Public Sector Tech Group at the Society for Computers and Law (SCL)

Selen Alkan (International Business Law LLM, 2022) has been appointed to serve as a committee member of the SCL.

SCL is the leading educational charity for the tech law community with the mission to inform and educate legal and technology professionals, academics and the wider audience on the impact of IT on law and legal practice. SCL’s Public Sector Tech Group will be looking to work with key organisations across the public sector to craft content, events, training and discussion groups with a view to tackling the unique way in which government and its wider public bodies interact with technology.

Selen has been an active member of the SCL, having recently spoken in the session titled “Metaverse: How It Works?” at the Tech of Tech Law Conference on 26 March 2024. Apart from her membership at SCL, she is an ambassador of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) for Queen Mary University of London. She is also acting as a mentor for the Postgraduate Law Mentoring Program at Queen Mary University of London. Selen is currently working as a contract analyst focusing on IT agreements and technology transactions for the Post Office. She obtained her LLM degree in International Business Law from Queen Mary University of London with Distinction in 2022 as a Jean Monnet scholar. Her dissertation entitled “Dual-Class Listing under EU and UK Laws: Is It Compatible with Corporate Governance Principles” was also awarded with Distinction."
