White & Black award Isabel Vanhaeverbeke the Queen Mary LLM essay prize in European Law of Patents

Oxford based law firm White & Black has awarded the third annual prize for best essay in LLM European Law of Patents 2023-24 for students studying at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS), Queen Mary University of London to Isabel Vanhaeverbeke.

Her essay analyses the post-'Device for Autonomous Bootstrapping of Unified Sentience' (DABUS) era following the rejection of AI inventorship in major jurisdictions worldwide. Professor Duncan Matthews, convenor of the LLM European Patents module and Director of the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute (QMIPRI), presented the White & Black essay prize to Isabel in person during the recent QMIPRI Annual Conference on AI Frontiers in Intellectual Property Law: Navigating the Future, which took place at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London on 27-28 June 2024.
