ICTs are being massively used in healthcare, in heterogeneous ways and fields subsumable under the label ‘e-Health’. After presenting a taxonomy of the e-Health, Guido Noto La Diega will introduce the new concept of ‘IoT-Health’, which refers to the application of the Internet of Things (IoT) for the prevention and cure of diseases and more generally for health and wellbeing purposes. The IoT can potentially change the traditional understanding of healthcare. With a use case-based methodology, Guido will focus on the so-called ‘repurposing’, here understood as a peculiar characteristic of IoT systems whereby Things produce flow and actions unforeseen by the relevant manufacturers.
