Profile

Dr Victoria Cooper is a senior lecturer in childhood and youth studies with an extensive professional background spanning early years teaching, further and higher education, professional development and research. She has particular expertise in educational research methodologies, child led and voice research and is the former co-director of the Open University Children’s Research Centre (CRC).

Expertise

Victoria been principal investigator and co-investigator on a number of funded research projects exploring the experiences of marginalised children and young people working with diverse stakeholders and charities including Amnesty International UK, Hope Support Services, YSS: Youth Support Services, the Diana Awards and The Field Studies Council. She has chaired the production of a variety of Open University modules over the last 20 years and continues to take a leading role in senior lecturer professional development. She has published journal articles, reports, academic books, and is an invited speaker at national events. She is currently the undergraduate Module Chair for Introduction to Childhood Studies and the Psychology of Childhood and has an extensive background chairing at undergraduate and master’s level and external examination at other universities.
