For more than 30 years, Dr. Derr has engaged children, youth, and community members in community-based and participatory action research in both rural and urban settings of Mexico and the U.S., including with indigenous communities, Spanish land grant communities, and farm-working communities. She primarily works through partnerships between universities, public schools, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
