Dr Keely Kulesza-Smith, BSc, MSc, MA, PGCE, MRSBLecturer in BiologyEmail: k.kulesza-smith@qmul.ac.ukRoom Number: Office 2, Floor 4, Institute of Dentistry ProfileTeachingResearchProfileFollowing on from completion of her degree in Biochemistry from the University of Southampton, Keely undertook a Masters degree in Neuroscience at Kings College London. During her study, she discovered her passion for education and teaching and decided to take up a place at the Institute of Education, completing her PGCE in secondary science education. In her second year of teaching, she won a scholarship fund to undertake her MA in science education, where she focused on the self-efficacy of girls transitioning from KS4 to KS5 Biology. She has taught in a number of both inner and outer London secondary schools, holding posts such as Head of Department, Head of Year, Lead Practitioner and Director of Scientific Development and Research. At her most recent school, based in Tower Hamlets, Keely has worked closely with QMUL for a number of years, supporting both the CCFS course as an honorary lecturer, heading up the Authentic Biology project and leading on the Science Summer School hosted by Professor Brian Cox. In 2019, she left her school role and joined QMUL as a full member of staff. She is a member of the Royal Society of Biology.
