Profile

Jaimie is a Senior Staff Scientist at DERI within the Neff Lab, which focuses on the social, cultural, economic, and political impacts of emerging technologies.

Jaimie’s research interests centre on the impact of technology on human behaviour and societal well-being. She has an interdisciplinary background and holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge and received a PhD from the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. Her doctoral research was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Jaimie has a particular interest in young people’s engagement with emerging technologies, considering the social, psychological, and ethical dimensions of these engagements. Her expertise spans areas such as online social behaviours, co-design methods, generative AI, health technologies, smart toys, adolescents, and self-tracking.

Jaimie spent a number of years working as a User Experience Researcher at WhatsApp prior to joining DERI. She is also an Affiliate at the Minderoo Centre of Technology and Democracy and a CERES Affiliate at the University of California, Irvine.
