DES CARE Agenda update

Online learning programme launches

The Digital Education Studio is excited to share the four CARE Agenda courses which will be launched in September 2024 and January 2025.

These courses are part of the Digital Education Studio’s CARE Digital Project which aims to co-create digital learning programmes and courses in collaboration with teams from the six institutes of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

MSc Cancer Biology – September 2025

In partnership with Barts Cancer Institute (BCI), this online MSc program is designed to provide working professionals and recent graduates with specialised knowledge in cancer biology and therapeutics. It offers a thorough understanding of the scientific principles underlying cancer biology, the development of new treatments, and their practical application. This online program is tailored to accommodate busy schedules, featuring a blend of self-paced learning materials, thoughtfully designed asynchronous individual and group activities, and multimodal assessments. The curriculum provides a solid foundation in evaluating and using cancer therapies, enhancing career prospects in early-phase clinical trials and cancer drug development. The program is a collaborative effort between Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and ASM in Malaysia, taking a further step towards establishing a QMUL cancer research hub in Asia.

MSc Advanced Neonatal Practitioner – September 2025

In partnership with Blizard Institute  and Barts Health NHS Trust, this online MSc program prepares experienced healthcare professionals to become Advanced Neonatal Practitioners (ANPs). As London's only dedicated MSc for prospective ANPs, the program aims to enhance students’ neonatal expertise across the four pillars of Advanced Neonatal Practice: Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education, and Research. Innovative digital learning approaches featuring self-paced learning resources, asynchronous individual and group interactive online activities will be adopted to fit students’ busy professional schedule. The program is delivered with the support from the medico-surgical tertiary neonatal unit at the Royal London Hospital and the London Neonatal Transfer Service, making it an ideal pathway to advanced clinical roles in neonatology.

An introduction to leadership skills and practice in healthcare – September 2025

An introduction to leadership skills and practice in healthcare is a tailored, online, four-week continuing professional development course designed for aspiring leaders and professionals who are new to leadership in the public and private healthcare sectors.

In partnership with the Institute of Dentistry (IoD), this online short course aims to provide systematic leadership training with theoretical framework and practical applications and skills in healthcare settings, for middle managers or aspiring leaders working in the public and private healthcare sectors. Course participants will explore power dynamics, influence, authenticity, leadership values, change, conflict, intersectionality in healthcare leadership, and develop practical, hands-on skills in self-leadership, network mapping, action planning and peer coaching, which will enable you to effectively navigate complex leadership challenges.

To accommodate participants’ busy schedules, the course offers easy online access to learning materials and teachings, so that participants can learn in their own time.

MSc Global Public Health online – January 2025

In partnership with the Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH) this course explores the social, political, economic and ecological determinants of health, with a focus on health policy analysis. The programme is aimed at an international cohort of students and seeks to bring together diverse perspectives on global public health. Students will be encouraged to engage with global health issues pertinent to them and their context to make the learning personal and relevant, as well as sharing knowledge with the rest of the cohort about the myriad health challenges that exist around the world. By combining a wide variety of staff and student experiences, along with impactful online learning approaches to deepen understanding of global health issues, the programme will help learners become astute graduates with a truly global perspective.
