Queen Mary's Doctoral College is excited to announce an opportunity for talented individuals with strong data analytics skills to join the 'Route 2: Data and Information Research Culture' initiative. As an Interdisciplinary Research Culture Data Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of interdisciplinary research at Queen Mary.
About the Project: The project focuses on enhancing research culture by understanding the working environments of university students. Successful candidates will actively contribute to tasks such as auditing students and supervisors, researching workshops and events, reviewing research degrees, and creating a centralised database and dashboard using PowerBI for visualising interdisciplinary collaboration.Key Tasks:
Audit of Students and Supervisors:- Examine students enrolled with supervisors across multiple schools or institutes- Document details on the interdisciplinary nature of these relationships
Audit of Workshops and Events:- Research and analyse previous interdisciplinary workshops and events.- Extract insights, outcomes, and recommendations for future initiatives.Audit of Research Degrees:- Review research degree titles, identifying those with interdisciplinary elements.- Compile a comprehensive list and provide a summary of such degrees.
Database and Dashboard Creation:- Develop a centralised database for interdisciplinary student information.- Utilise PowerBI to craft a dashboard for easy visualisation and analysis.
Position Details: Duration:12 weeks, 6 hours per week, starting on March 25th and ending on June 10th.Compensation: £17.22 per hour, paid as temporary workers through Q-Temps.Work Arrangement: Remote position with 2-3 in-person project progress reviews scheduled.Weekly Meetings: 30-minute online project review meetings with the project team.
Qualifications and Skills: Currently enrolled in a PGR programme at Queen Mary.Strong data analytics skills, specifically experienced in PowerBI and database management.Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.Exceptional communication and report-writing skills.Interested candidates should submit a CV and a one-page cover letter to Dr. Helen Shaw by March 11th, 4 pm.
