Are you a new research student at Queen Mary? Have you heard the term 'impact' but are not sure what it means? Are you thinking about how your research can change the world and want to do something about it? Are you thinking about a career in academia and want to know about how impact can help with that?

If the answer to any of the above is 'yes!' then this session is for you! Come and hear from Queen Mary's Impact Team about what impact is and why it's important. Think about and discuss the different types of impact your research can have and practical tips for planning and writing your impact plans.

Objectives
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Define research impact in UKRI terms
  • Discuss types and examples of impact and activities
  • Discuss tips for planning and writing about impact
