We are looking for a PhD student to act as a mentor support to 7 current SBM undergraduates with BTEC qualifications to deliver a 1 week transition programme for a targeted group of new students joining in September. We're looking for a PhD student who is passionate about supporting & developing students, sharing knowledge regarding teaching & learning and suggest innovative ways of delivering content.Step Ahead Transition ProgrammeThis is an Access funded pilot programme for incoming SBM first undergraduates from selected schools & colleges
A transition programme is a course where students get a head start on university experience, such as skills, assessments and online systems and make new friends from their new cohort, ahead of starting their course the following week.We are aiming for the participants of the transition programme to:
The programme will cover a variety of subjects already researched by a QConsult team in Spring, including quantitative skills, essay writing, exam preparation and Harvard referencing. Social events and activity to develop a sense of belonging, build resilience and develop career aims will be delivered by the team.
Part time from Monday 10 August - Friday 4 September 2020 (Team training with Tracy Bussoli) Delivering the Programme: Monday 7 September - Friday 11 September 2020 - 9-5pm schedule TBC
