The Festival of Communities is back for 2023

The Tower Hamlets Festival of Communities returns this June and the call is now open for Queen Mary staff and students and community organisations and projects to take part!

The annual Festival celebrates everything that makes east London a fantastic place to live and work and is packed with family friendly activities. Bringing together hands-on demonstrations of Queen Mary research and teaching, information about community projects, games and activities - the festival offers something for all of our local residents.

To help support your involvement in the Festival, we have a complete suite of advice, funding and training on the horizon. For a snapshot of what's on offer, keep reading!

Get involved: the call for activities is now open

We are looking for Queen Mary staff and students across all subjects and for community organisations and projects across east London to propose ideas of activities that they would like to run at the Festival of Communities 2023.

The activities at the Festival are designed for local families to learn something new or try something different, and to provide an opportunity for everyone involved to meet and interact with people they haven’t met before. These could be hands-on games or make-and-takes, demonstrations, exhibitions or another way – we’re open to new, fun, and creative ideas! We have a limited amount of funding available to support the development of activities which wouldn’t otherwise be able to take part.

The call for activities and funding is now open and will close at the end of the day on Thursday, 30th March 2023.
