As part of a joint initiative with the Office of AI, QuantumBlack, a McKinsey company, is offering to sponsor up to five students to study a Masters in Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
Queen Mary University of London is delighted to partner once again with QuantumBlack, a McKinsey company, to offer scholarship opportunities for under-represented students to pursue postgraduate studies in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science in September 2021.
Recipients of the scholarship will be offered a financial sponsorship funded by QuantumBlack, which will cover tuition fees for students already resident in the UK and living expenses. The successful students will also be given the opportunity to complete an internship with the company once the Masters is successfully completed.
QuantumBlack brings together the brightest data scientists, engineers and designers to tackle problems that the world’s most influential organisations are facing. QuantumBlack teams work in multi-disciplinary environments harnessing data to provide real-world impact and the scholarship scheme is designed to increase the muscle and number of AI talent in the UK whilst facilitating equal opportunity for all students to access a higher level of education.
Current Queen Mary QuantumBlack scholar, Sajid Alam, said, ‘The scholarship is important to me as it gave the opportunity to pursue a career in AI. Growing up in a deprived area of London, being of Bangladeshi descent with only one working parent I fully understood the challenges that my family and I faced. I worked very hard to achieve educational success, but to support my family I needed to begin a career. The scholarship allowed me to pursue further education as well as giving me a head start in a career that I am passionate about and for that, I am very grateful.’
