Levelling Up: Maths for Computer Science

Levelling Up: Maths for Computer Science is a scheme supported by the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science to provide students from underrepresented backgrounds with online tutoring and guidance with their university applications.

The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Sciences will be launching Levelling Up: Maths for Computer Science for female and non-binary students in early 2025. Together with our donor, Dr Tony Hill, we identified female and non-binary students as a priority group for this scheme as they are currently underrepresented in STEM subjects at universities in the UK.

This scheme is for A-Level Maths students in year 12 or equivalent who identify as female or non-binary and intend to study a course at university which lists A-Level Computer Science as a required subject. Regular online tutorials are delivered during term time by our team of Computer Science tutors who are currently studying across a wide range of Computer Science Programmes at Queen Mary.

In order to apply for this programme, you must:

  • Identify as female or non-binary
  • Be a year 12 or equivalent student at the time of application
  • Study A-Level Maths and interested in studying computer science at university.
  • Live permanently in the UK
  • Be resident of Greater London. We understand that some students may go to school in London, but technically live outside of London and we encourage applications from students at all Greater London schools.
