The Energy Forum has become an established event within the Institute providing a trusted environment to hold academically led discussion on current legal issues.
Different aspects of climate change have been explored, from the consequences of the Paris Agreement, the development of Climate Change Litigation and the impact of activism on regulation and legislation. Brexit and its effect on the energy sector has also been dissected. Other topics include: the impact of oil price volatility, subsidies in the energy sector, and the future of nuclear energy.
An inter-disciplinary panel of experts lead our discussions providing informed analysis. Participants in our panels include scientists, Professor Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith, Dr Joeri Rogeli, economists, Matthew Bell OBE, Lord Layard, Bob Ward, industry experts; Sam Laidlaw, Lord Mogg and Sir Ed Davey.
We have established a separate forum for our student and new entrant lawyers from our membership called “New Voices in Energy Law”.
