2013 Annual Drapers’ Lecture

Martin will explore some of the big opportunities and obstacles for education as technology advances and pedagogy evolves. The lecture is called: ‘Massive Open Online Courses, Napster and the Tyranny of Conventional Wisdom: Where’s the Next Giant Leap for Higher Education?’

Martin has appeared frequently in the media recently, following the launch of a collaborative project between a number of UK institutions to offer the public online access to higher education courses via computers, tablets or smartphones. Minister of State for Universities and Science David Willetts referred to this as having the potential to “revolutionise conventional models of formal education"  Find out more here
