Monika Maciuszek and Silvia Oggero successfully defend their PhD thesis
Two more EVOluTION ESRs completing doctoral degrees
On 22nd January 2020 Monika Maciuszek (ESR10) became the second ESR to have her viva. In her own words:
"I feel really lucky that I got the opportunity to do my PhD at LifeArc and it has been an amazing three years. I am thankful to my PhD supervisors Drs Andy Merritt and Tim Chapman for giving me the scientific freedom and the chance to learn a huge spectrum of research skills. At LifeArc I was surrounded by fantastic colleagues and they have been a source of great advice and friendship throughout my scientific journey. It was a great pleasure to be part of the EVOluTION ITN consortium. Thank you for great science, collaborations across Europe and of course many lasting friendships!"
Monika was followed closely by Silvia Oggero (ESR1) on 30th January. There have been the customary celebrations at QMUL for Dr Maciuszek and Dr Oggero, complete with cake for the lab colleagues.
We are truly very proud of Monika and Silvia and wish them all the best in their future successes, of which we are certain there will be many.
