Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic
Research in focus as health emergency unfolds
Like everyone else, at EVOluTION we are sad and troubled to observe the spread of the coronavirus pandemic that is affecting the health of populations and is also disrupting our work and normal way of life.
Our researchers and their institutions are taking all necessary precautions, in line with their national emergency guidelines. Fortunately, no project events are affected as EVOluTION formally comes to an end on 31st March. However the emergency is having an impact on many of our Early Stage Researchers who are continuing to work towards their PhD. We wish them all the best and will support them in any way we can.
The emergency highlights the importance of research into the body’s endogenous protective mechanisms which may have an impact on how the immune response is regulated in physiological as well as stressful settings like upon cenobitic challenge.
We wish everyone to stay safe in these difficult times and hope that our 11 ESRs will go on to play an important role as the scientists of the future in our fight against diseases that affect our societies.
