The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry is committed to promoting equality in all its activities and aims to provide a work, learning, research and teaching environment free from discrimination and unfair treatment.

I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every individual feels valued, empowered, and reaches their potential at Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Embracing EDI principles not only enriches our academic community but also enhances the quality and impact of our work. By championing these values, we strive to create a cohesive culture that reflects the diversity of society, promotes inclusivity, and ensures equitable opportunities for all.
— Prof. Aylin Baysan Academic Lead for EDI at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

Throughout our history, social justice and equality have been central to our mission. Two historic institutions, which form the bedrock of Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, The London Hospital Medical College and St Bartholomew’s Medical College, were founded to provide medical treatment to London’s poor. We remain committed to their original aims and continue to see social justice as an integral part of our mission.

Our mission is to create a truly inclusive environment, building on our cherished cultural diversity, where students and staff flourish, reach their full potential and are proud to be part of the University.

Our values are inclusive, proud, ambitious, collegial and ethical; these values directly support our mission.

Our diverse local community offer us a window to the world, ensuring that our ground-breaking research not only dramatically improves the outcomes for patients in London, but also has a far-reaching global impact. This is reflected in our research strategy ‘Better Health for All’.

We also continue to seek out students from backgrounds that are currently under-represented at universities like ours.

We are proud of what our University and Faculty have already achieved, including:
