The Environment & Health MDT is a cross-cutting collaborative theme, working with colleagues across Queen Mary.

Environment & Health sub-themes

The Environment & Health MDT has four key sub-themes by which research activities are grouped:

  • Natural Environment (e.g., Land, water, air)
  • Microbial Environment (e.g., Infectious diseases, commensal pathogens)
  • Built Environment (e.g., Housing, urban landscapes, recreation)
  • Psychosocial Environment (e.g., stress, poverty, mental health)

Research Workstreams

Our three key research workstreams are:

  • Breathed Environment (BE) led by Dr. Abigail Whitehouse. 
  • Impact of Climate Change on Health (ICCH) led by Dr. Andrew Russell. 
  • Microbiome led by Dr. Kieran Bates and Dr. Ruairi Robertson.
