The School of Geography is delighted with our outstanding REF 2021 assessment results, published today, which recognise our growing research expertise and the change it makes in the world.
The School of Geography is ranked 10th for its research outputs among every higher education institution in the UK, according to Times Higher Education – with 93% of our research outputs considered ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’. We are delighted by this outstanding REF assessment result, which recognises our growing research expertise and the change it makes in the world. Such an achievement would not be possible without the dedicated work of our academic staff and everyone who works alongside them.
This latest REF assessment shows that we produce exemplary research outputs, and we now look to maintain this momentum, continue providing the very best support for our researchers in an environment in which they can flourish, and to find new ways to demonstrate our impact on the world.
Head of the School of Geography, Professor Kavita Datta said: ‘This is a fantastic collective achievement reflecting high quality and impactful research undertaken in the School!’
