The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are the European Union’s reference programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training.

The School of Geography is delighted to announce that Dr Rinan Shah has won a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action post-doctoral fellowship.

Dr Shah’s research will examine the intersection of gender, climate change, and mountain springs in the Indian Himalayas. It builds on her previous work as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and her PhD from the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment in Bengaluru.

Dr Shah will work with Dr Jeremy Schmidt, and she looks forward to joining the community at Queen Mary University of London in September 2025.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action is the flagship post-doctoral fellowship of the European Research Council, and in this round over 9000 applications were made to this highly competitive scheme.

The award builds on recent European Research Council success in the School, which hosts two Starting Grants awarded in the 2022 funding round to Dr Sydney Calkin and Dr Carlo Inverardi-Ferri.
